I would like to thank everyone for their support in my position as Vice Chairman.
When I first stood for my current position it was a twofold decision.
Firstly to be elected onto the committee and assist in the running of the centre.
Secondly to help resolve a difficult situation which had arisen within the centre.
Since that time I have learnt a lot more about the committee member’s role in running the centre and what is expected by the membership. It is clear that the Chairman’s position is expected to attend many rallies/meetings/functions on behalf of the Centre, almost on a weekly basis as with our current and past Chairmen.
Within my employment and shift pattern I only get two weekends off in five and that is likely to be the situation for the next five years. In the New Year I am moving to a new unit at work with a much more specialist role. This is unfortunately also likely to impact more on my availability, with shift changes at short notice.
After much consideration it is now clear that I would not be able to meet the previously mentioned Centre expectations and would be unable to fulfil the role of Chairman should I have been elected at the end of our current Chairman’s term.
I would therefore invite anyone who would consider standing as a future Chairman to contact our current Chairman Tony ,or any committee member with a view to discussing the role and possible co-option to the committee in preparation for the position.
Vice Chairman
